JÖRÐ
JÖRÐ
JÖRÐ is a performance, which intertwines film-, dance- and sound art. JÖRÐ redefines humanity's connection with nature and our place in the world. JÖRÐ spins together thematic threads of nature, Nordic folklore and the female perspective to create its own modern myth. Through the medium of multi-channel sound, multiple layers of projections and the performance of three dancers, JÖRÐ becomes an immersive experience that unveils pop-culture and stripper heels in contrast to rough rocks and breaking waves. JÖRÐ is a project and artistic collaboration between Maria Guldbrandsø Tórgarð (FO), Vár Bech Árting (FO), Lisen Pousette (SE), Tiia Kasurinen (FI) and Lil Lacy (DK/US). The aim of the collaboration is to create art across geographical borders and art forms. The piece was shown in Copenhagen in November 2022 as a video and sound installation. Now the installation will be transformed into an immersive performance, with the premiere in the Nordic House in the Faroe Islands.

THE SOUL CATCHER - avdúking av nútíðar rándýrinum
THE SOUL CATCHER
The Soul Catcher is a seductive and deeply disturbing performance about psychological and physical abuse, manipulation and power. The Soul Catcher sheds light on the invisible mechanisms behind abusive relationships, with a specific focus on NPD - Narcissistic Personality Disorder. A disorder consisting of a toxic cocktail of lack of empathy, harmful self-absorption, and predatory and exploitative behavior towards other people. In a powerful mix of performance, dance, spoken word, and newly composed electronic music, we break the silence and raise a debate about power, empathy, boundaries, and personal responsibility.

Einangran (FO) - Útgávukonsert - Vendir vindar
Einangran (FO) Release Concert - Vendir Vindar
The Faroese band Einangran has just released their brand new album titled "Vendir Vindar" (Changing Winds), and they will celebrate the release with a concert at The Nordic House. Heiðrik á Heygum and Lea Kampmann, both accomplished solo singer/songwriters, found themselves confined to the same apartment in Copenhagen when Denmark implemented a lockdown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. During this time, they collaborated and wrote songs together in their native language, Faroese. Faroese is considered one of the world's smallest languages, spoken by only around 50,000 people. The outcome of their collaboration is a breathtaking acoustic album comprising 12 Faroese songs. The album features timeless compositions that skillfully combine acoustic and electronic elements. Among the tracks is their Faroese hit song "Kanska," which received the prestigious Best Song award at the Faroe Islands' Music Awards(FMA). Joining them on stage are accomplished musicians such as Heðin Ziska Davidsen, Mikael Blak, Magnus Johannesen, and Per Ingvard Petersen, enhancing the live performance experience.

Children's Concert 2024
4.000 children from all over the Faroe Islands will experience the Faroe Islands' Largest Orchestra play children's concerts in The Nordic House. Actor and narrator Jákup Dahl Wardum will together with the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra tell the story of Tubbina the tuba. The story is about a tuba that plays in the orchestra. She is tired of playing the same two notes all the time and never is allowed to play a real melody. Tubbina goes on an adventure because she wants to try to play a real melody for the first time. Sùsanna Tórgarð has translated the story into Faroese. There will be public access to the concert in The Nordic House and to one in The Culture House in Fuglafjørð. In addition, nine concerts will be played for kindergartens and schools. Arranger and composer Atli K. Petersen has arranged two recent Faroese songs for symphony orchestra. The program also includes other music that you all know. The Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra is looking forward to playing some fun and cozy concerts for the youngest. Conductor: Bernhardur Wilkinson
